Design & Build

PORTAL FRAMES

Building with a portal frame means fast installation and reduced labour costs. The walls are not load bearing, because SLVL columns are supporting the weight of the structure. This means you can build a two-storey structural portal frame and install a roof in a 1/3 of the time a conventional build takes. Great in a New Zealand winter.

A standard construction process complying with the NZ Building Code 3604, is then used to complete the building process. Generally standard timber wall frames and cladding systems will be added as the exterior infill walls (non-load bearing) including insulation and gib, but factory prepared wall systems like Tri-board’ & ‘Formance SIP’ are excellent proven options.

TRIBOARD WALL SYSTEMS

Triboard is a 3-layered panel with a wood strand core sandwiched between an MDF outer ‘skin’. The result is a clean-lined panel that has high resilience and impact resistence and greater stiffness than other similar products. The dimensionally stable core provides superb load bearing and screw holding, and the MDF surfaces give a smooth finish for painting or overlaying.

Developed specifically for panel construction uses, Triboard can be used for all walls, interior and perimeter, and doors. Single wall panels used are 36mm thick, with double walls and centre cavity used for high acoustic value.

Triboard supplied by Durapanel Systems is pre-primed and pre-cut into house wall panels, using this system facilitates faster installation times and reduced installation costs.

As the cornerstone panel product for panel housing, it speeds up the construction process, eliminates the need for sub-framing and other supplementary materials (e.g, doors can be cut from the wall panel) and it optimising internal space.

Triboard is engineered from 100% sustainable NZ Radiata pine and is made in accordance with strict quality and environmental standards (ISO, FSC). And it can be used for a variety of other residential or commercial building-related applications.

ADAPTABLE

Other alternative ideas like straw bale and rammed earth wall design can also fit under a portal frame structure.
